This tool provides an indicative estimate only.
The indicative home charging electricity costs, MINI Charging, Smart Tariff and annual fuel savings results are based on the mileage, fuel type, miles per gallon (mpg), fuel costs and electricity costs (kW/h) which you enter in the tool. The starting figures for electricity and fuel costs (used if you do not change them) are the average fuel figures published by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, June 2024 of petrol £1.47/litre and diesel £1.53/litre and the average home charging electricity cost of £0.25p/kWh published by Ofgem, June 2024.
The figures shown are an indicative estimation of the costs for electricity for the selected MINI battery electric vehicle compared to the fuel costs for another vehicle according to the data entered by you. The electricity and fuel consumption figures are calculated on the basis of the figures obtained in the new WLTP test.
PLEASE NOTE, THE SAVINGS SHOWN ARE AN INDICATIVE ESTIMATE ONLY. YOUR REAL LIFE DRIVING RESULTS WHICH WILL DEPEND ON A NUMBER OF FACTORS:
1. Your method of charging: The calculation uses indicative electricity costs for charging the electric vehicle at home or via a MINI Charging station. The cost for charging the vehicle on the road using public charging stations outside of MINI Charging may be higher. Charging the vehicle using public charging stations outside of MINI Charging may therefore reduce or eliminate the savings shown. Please note, there are currently limited IONITY charging stations throughout the UK, click here to locate an IONITY charging station near you.
2. The starting charge of the battery.
3. Mileage driven, accessories fitted (post-registration), variations in weather, driving styles and vehicle load, regional variations in electricity and fuel costs and future changes in these costs.
4. Please note the MINI Charging cost shown (used in the calculation if you do not choose to enter a price) is the average cost for charging at an IONITY charging station with a MINI Charging subscription with the benefit of the first year no subscription fee offer for the qualifying models shown.
NB The calculation only compares fuel, home charging, MINI Charging and Smart Tariff indicative costs. You will also need to consider the difference in price between an electric model and a diesel or petrol model.
DRIVING CONDITIONS.
The average speeds used to illustrate different driving conditions are based on the average speed values, with stops, used in the WLTC Class 3 test cycles. These figures are sourced in km/h for each cycle, translated to MPH and rounded. Urban driving conditions reflects the Low Test Cycle. Suburban driving conditions reflects the Medium Test Cycle. Motorway driving reflects the ExHigh Test Cycle. Where range figures are required for calculations, figures from the WLTC Class 3 test cycles have been used.
